Sumptuous Afghan Dinner Benefiting IRC Atlanta on May 4On Sunday, May 4, experience the enchanting world of Afghan cuisine with International Rescue Committee Atlanta. IRC has partnered up with Voilà, a cozy restaurant located in the heart of Decatur, to offer the community a delicious seven-dish dinner of Afghan favorites, as part of Voilà’s Chef du Jour program. Voilà owner Donna Ruppert started this charitable dinner program in order to give back to the community. Says Ruppert, “Our ‘Chef du Jour’ program is a way for closet Chefs to leave their regular jobs behind for a day and have some fun while bringing attention to Decatur organizations that could use more community support.”Your Chefs du Jour will be Honishka Adish and Masooda Omar, who will be cooking up such delicacies as Burani Badenjan, an eggplant and tomato dish, Qobeli-Palaow, fragrantly seasoned rice, Qurma Gosht, featuring tender beef, and Shur-nakhud, an appetizer of chickpeas, potatoes and mint, to name a few. Born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan, Honishka and Masooda arrived in the United States with their respective families as refugees in the early 2000’s, escaping Taliban terror. Both now work for IRC Atlanta, helping newly arrived refugees to adapt to life in the United States and to become self-reliant once again. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the programs and services of IRC Atlanta.Tickets for the two evening seatings at 5:30 and 8:00 are $40.00 per person. Voilà is located at 410-B W. Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA, 30030. Purchase TicketsFor more information, contact Kimberly Fulghum at 404-292-7731x43 or

Decatur’s Finest to serve as Chefs du Jour at Voila` Cafe
Have you ever wished you could show off your favorite recipe and be a chef for just one day? That’s just what some of Decatur’s most notable citizens are doing; getting to display their culinary talents as the “Chef du Jour” at Voila` Café. Once a month, the Chef du Jour will be behind the line and in the spotlight, preparing their most delectable dishes for the masses. In addition to the fun and excitement of being the Star Chef for a day, proceeds from the evening will be given to a local charity of the Chef’s choosing.
“Our ‘Chef du Jour’ program is a way for closet Chefs to leave their regular jobs behind for a day and have some fun while bringing attention to Decatur organizations that could use more community support,” said Voila`’s owner Donna Ruppert. “Being a Decatur resident, I really want to use the restaurant to create a sense of community and encourage everyone to become more engaged in our local programs that make Decatur such a great place to live and work. I know how hard it can be for nonprofits to get the funding they need.”
The public is welcomed to all the Chef du Jour events, and reservations are suggested.
